About

The people and thinking behind Gallop & Grind

Gallop & Grind was created to bring independent-café coffee to places where genuinely good coffee can be difficult to find.

Pippa runs the day-to-day coffee service, with Cam supporting events, logistics and the off-grid systems.

Customers deal directly with the people responsible for planning and delivering the booking.

Who you are booking

Pippa

Coffee service

Pippa runs the day-to-day coffee service: the menu, the machine, the drinks and the people at the hatch.

If you book us, Pippa is the person making your coffee.

Cam

Events, logistics and off-grid systems

Cam handles events, logistics and the off-grid systems — power, water, towing, pitching and everything that has to work before the first drink is made.

He is usually the person a venue or organiser speaks to about access and set-up.

Why Gallop & Grind exists

Good coffee is easy to find on a high street and hard to find at a wedding, a showground or a company away day. Most event coffee is made in a hurry, on equipment that was never meant for volume, by someone who was asked to cover the urn.

We built Gallop & Grind to close that gap: a proper independent-café set-up that can be towed to a field, a driveway or a car park and still produce the drink you would order in town.

The horsebox conversion

The trailer is a converted horsebox, fitted out for coffee service rather than dressed up to look the part. It carries its own power and water, so it does not need a hook-up, a generator or a tap at your venue.

The layout was built around service flow — where the barista stands, where cups sit and where a queue forms — because that is what decides how quickly people are served.

The Astoria machine

Drinks are pulled on a restored Astoria lever machine — commercial equipment, maintained as such, chosen because a lever gives the barista direct control over the shot.

The full explanation of the machine, the beans and how each drink is prepared lives on our coffee page.

A professional approach to events

Venues and organisers need paperwork, not enthusiasm. We work to the documentation an event professional expects, and we would rather tell you what we can evidence than imply more.

Everything is confirmed in writing before the day: the service window, the menu, the pitch and the cost.

Where we work from

Gallop & Grind started in the Cotswolds and is now based at Bulford in Wiltshire, which is where the horsebox is kept, loaded and prepared between events.

Working from Bulford puts most of Wiltshire and Hampshire within a comfortable towing distance, and it is what shapes how travel is quoted for events further out.

What we can evidence

Venues and organisers ask for paperwork. Nothing is listed here until the document behind it exists and can be sent to you.

Public liability insurance
We hold £10 million of public liability cover, and send the certificate to any venue that asks for it.
Food hygiene rating
The horsebox holds a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating — the highest rating awarded.
Who you deal with
Enquiries, planning and service are handled by Pippa and Cam. There is no agency or subcontracted barista between you and the people on site.
